Draw, Spin, Throw, Knit, Weave: As We Enter a New Year
Happy holiday today, last week, the week before, next week, whatever it is you may celebrate, commemorate or recognize. May it all be in healing and goodness and true coexistence for all life on this earth. May we remember right relationship in 2026.
If you're curious about esoteric or the "deep cuts" drawing from some christian-based traditions, the 12 Holy Nights for 2026 started last night.
Last night's dreams and what comes to you upon waking up are said to correlate with what is coming your way in January and so forth through to Los Tres Reyes (Epiphany), representing December 2026.
So you can do that, journal your dreams, spend some time each day at dusk reflecting on the corresponding month of 2025, do some art. And you can leave it at that. If you want you can read on where I continue to work to find or create some safer spaces, to revive some goodness.
I found out about this taking a class on child development and art and it's an Anthroposophy thing (Waldorf Education), if you're interested. Either way, it's a good time of year to contemplate that which happened and what might be coming up and (IMHO) what strengths we want to draw up and draw from and build upon as we take charge of the things which are that we can bring order to and create. How do we dance with the energies that are already out there to keep things as safe, as sacred, as holy as we can? How do we keep drawing up and drawing from our hearts of compassion and goodness in a place here it feels like smokey poison is constantly coming through the air vents and fires are the crops the soil is yielding because those in seats power (both social and recognized officially) around the world keep sowing vitriol, murder, corruption, distortions of truth, twisted treatment of humand and the ecosystem we all share on this planet that we were loaned? Draw up, draw from, draw into existence true holy Goodness again. Your sacred self, your purest heart of who YOU truly are, is who you were meant to be and why you are here. YOUR authentic self. Draw your deepest soul-truth up, draw from your most innocent trueness before harm came to you, draw into existance day after day after day your light, your power-to-do from within your bold spirit. This is not about mindlessly following dogmatic nonsense or party lines. This is about digging past the heaps of plastic, electronic, artificial, detritis of what you were indoctrinated to believe carefully enough that you just come to the top layer of topsoil because the whole matrix of where we are all interconnected begins there. How do we recycle the plastics, the wasteful dogma shoved at us from all sectors? How do we aerate the soil we all are literally a part of?
Draw up, draw from, draw into existence. Literally and figuratively. Draw, spin, throw, knit, weave -- these are all words that have multiple meanings in our language that relate to creation. To Art.
The days between Winter Solstice and Brigid. The days between Christmas and Los Tres Reyes. Most faiths and cultures have holidays of light-in-darkness. Humans need this, apparently, it is literally how our world works in places like where I live where there are seasons. At this moment, there is so much despair. Hundreds of years of pain, just on repeat, old nonsense rebooted over and over and over that one set of people are specialer, the ones pointing the fingers have threefold pointing back at them, "I know you are but what am I?" distractions and so much gross, filthy, petroleum-soaked, twisted untruths. It's caustic and carcinogenic and flammable and that's not even analogy, the same seats of power create destruction, sickness, ruin over and over and over on all levels personal and political -- these things actually ARE connected, are more than just reflections. Trying to lay blame on others while being the ring leaders is nonsense and we all see through it by now, right?
So here we are in a 12 day space of time where some say there is yet another annual sequence of nature where humans can pause a few moments each day to gain some insights into how we survive, how we continue in the struggles of life, how we draw up, draw from and draw into existence the return of the Sacred that is our interconnectedness with the entire, actual, physical planet that is physically who we are, that we will eventually all be reintegrated into physically, that is us.
We are not useless lumps. Some of us forget or get all messed up in dogmas of nonsense thinking we're better than another human, that we get to have dominion over some other human or that it's ok to destroy a water supply and we forget stewardship relies on keeping connections healthy between living entities. Draw up, draw from, draw into. Draw spin, throw, knit, weave goodness, right relationship, authenticity of self and soul.
Be your finest, amazingly human, loving, caring, daring-to-be-true self this year.
Build your old-skool skills like building a sanity-preserving network of caring humans, building a raised bed or planting a little herb garden or jade plant indoors to remind you of your connections to the soil, build a place where you can inhale and exhale better as you do these things, we need to breathe, we need to eat. Build a little water filtration system out of two reused plastic bottles to remind yourself how filtration works, how we can purify what garbage we are given into something actually potable. We need water to drink. Build up so you can't be ground down.
We need to dance, draw, spin, throw, knit, weave to be our finest, amazingly human, loving, caring, daring-to-be-true selves this year. I suspect five to ten minutes a day is enough to shift us out of the inertia.
Be your finest, amazingly human, loving, caring, daring-to-be-true self this year.
Peace and Love,
MJ
