Birth Doula Services

Birth Doula Services

I began my doula training in 2006 and have continued to enrich my own professional development every year with additional certifications and trainings. I have had diverse experiences as a birth and wellness professional, working independently and for three hospital systems as well as supporting birth in home, birth center and hospital settings in person and virtually.

I believe that education feeds the confidence-relaxation-comfort cycle in birthing and as such, my clients have the opportunity for a LOT of education prior to their birth, if that is what they want. At minimum, my clients will all take the Evidence Based Birth(R) Savvy Birth 101 for Parents program and the Building Your Tool Kit for Labor class I teach through Yale New Haven Hospital. This way there is an understanding of how to successfully navigate the birth system and how to use physical comfort skills in the birthing process.

Clients can also elect to take additional classes such as Hypnobirthing and Mindset, Evidence Based Birth(R) Childbirth Class and other, specialized offerings such as VBAC Preparation, and a package of classes I like to call Homebirth is Suite.

Fees include two prenatal visits, classes and two postpartum visits (the second of which is optional), and these can be all in person, all virtual or a hybrid of both options.

In 2023, I discontinued individual package options for new clients. My current comprehensive virtual, in-person and hybrid offerings are set at a flat rate of $4,500 for a minimum of four contact points/meetings, birth support up to 24 hours, and text/email/phone support from signing to two weeks postpartum. I go on call at 36 weeks, and if a client begins birthing before that time, I will offer virtual support and/or call on a backup from my network if I am not available personally to support.

In the interest of inclusion and equity, I offer a 20% discount on my packages for members of the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. Those who qualify and decline the discount, rest assured that you are supporting BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ professional training partial scholarships and services to BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community.

We are very, very lucky in Connecticut that there are doulas available with lived experience that likely will complement your own, as well as doulas who can do a great job working with those with whom they don’t share lived experience. I am the right doula for people who want to be highly educated, well prepared, are dedicated to preparing for their births, and are looking forward to a peak experience in birth. I prefer supporting midwife-attended homebirths and VBACs with supportive care providers and LGBTQIA+ families and individuals. I also enjoy supporting families and individual birthing people who are looking to incorporate their faith/spiritual practices into their births.

I believe strongly that it is ALWAYS worth it to have the right support for birth, and that each family is unique. That may mean that I help you find someone else to work with, or at least offer you a list of names of others to check in with. Whatever part of your journey that I join you on, I’m honored to be a part of supporting you on it.
